Thought I was clutching at straws, to be honest.
Memories of 827 and Vitesse power.
Sooner I get LPG on it the better, I'll rev the nuts off it and row it along on the gearstick then.

K18 where's the beef?
As fitted to a 200 3 door. Where's the grunt supposed to be in this lump, when does it climb on the cams? I've been turned over more than once and struggled the other day vs a 'cooking' Focus. Bleedin lights up the front tyres for fun if suitably provoked. i.e. I don't back off once it loses tractio...

Re: 420 GSI parting out
I'm guessing the top hat bushes are those at the bottom of the lever.
Rubber mount where it bolts on the gearbox, big dished washers IIRC.
Checked the pin at the universal joint, those can wear and slop about, could be your problem.

97 420 GSI saloon, manual. 5 spoke alloys 4 good/legal tyres if you take the spare wheel into account. Front bumper, bonnet (flipped up @ 50mph) windscreen, passenger side headlights all guffed. Re: R25 spec query
You're right, had a look at the back and the 200 sticker.
I'm really a 800 man, don't pay much attention to the other models.
Right, I can find out what it's supposed to do according to the book.

R25 spec query
Can't seem to find specs for this online anywhere.
R reg, R25 IS, 3 door manual 1.8 non-vvc lump.
The specs I can find, it should be either a GTI with VVC lump or Non VVC with the step gearbox, I presume that's a semi auto jobbie.

No longer for Sale.
Just got the Tin tack, so I'll have to fix and keep it for a while.
Sick of the bleeding construction game, sick of getting the Tin tack as you're getting changed to go home.

420GSI spares or repair
Won't part it out, either it goes as a whole lump by the end of the month or it gets squished. I'm going to buy a Honda Legend Coupe and attempt not to break various funcions for a change :) R reg 4 door 420 GSI manual 100 ish K on the clock, usual T16 oil leak. Posing next to a supercar. 1) If it's yours, makes you look like a xylophone, you'll find female company generally of the completely useless kind who'll take no end of joy from ripping the pee out of you and your wallet until you're skint. 2)...

They're only losing so much money because idiots will sell them for buttons, I've seen people selling post 96 cars for less than I've sold a M and L reg car's with 130K plus miles. most likley cause would probably be the swivel ring behing the steering wheel. Quick clue to that one is, does the horn still work? If you've been chuffing around with the steering rack then it's the ring. Apparently if you're triple handy with the soldering iron you can repair the internal ribbon ...

This matter of principle is why Rover got into this situation. Various people wanted Rover years ago Ford and GM IIRC and they were told to bog off. Cut your nose to spite your face. If they (whoever gets MG-R) are going to succeed they really need to produce a credible and modern looking successor to the 45. Rightly or wrongly the current R45 is seen as prehistoric...a new one must at least "appear" to be a clean break rather than an extensive revamp. Sorry, unless MG is to be...

Never tried them myself, haven't had a scrappy sourced sensor go dead on me yet, so no need to spend £50 when I can spend £10.

Bosch dealer about £50 for the 800's, probably the same for yours.
Can be a pain getting a Bosch dealer to serve you though.
Try the bloke in Lincoln one of the 800 guys got two off him before.

Minter, from what I can tell you swapped a lump because of a blown HG, a HG swap is about £350 top whack (assuming everything else is OK).
