Rover 827 Carriers

Post by TomcatDan »

Hi all,

I'm after the Caliper carriers for an early 827 V6 (the one fitted with 285mm disks, think it was the Mk1 only) - is anybody breaking one, or know of anyone who is?

I need to sort the cheese-brakes on the Vit :p

may have an extra set in the shed, you should already have them though if you have the turbo as they were fitted with the same larger size discs.

You'd think so wouldn't you

It was only the Mk1 Tickford Turbos that had the larger disks apparently, all the Mk2s had 262 disks. No idea why they felt a Mk1 827 needed more braking than a MK2 Vit, but I would swing somewhere along the lines of cost cutting...

If you have a set mate, you are an utter lifesaver!

Hi
It wasnt just the Ticford fitted with these. I know that all the 2.7 Honda engine models had them, Mk1 and 2. As for vitty tubo,s I thought it was the same as standard. All the ones I have had used the larger disc , has a previous owner changed them ? I fitted the larger discs to my 1997 2.5 coupe using my old vitesse carriers. All the discs suppliers online I checked listed the larger disc for the 2.7 and the turbo vitesse.
anyway i will have to dig the carriers out from my shed and get back to you when I have them to hand if thats ok,
regards Bren.

Not sure to be honest, I know the 620ti are 282x23 where as the 800 discs are 285x21. maybe the extra 2 mil thickness would rub ! any how the carriers in the picture will go on your vitesse and you can still use your calipers. i have done this with my coupe which had 260 mil front discs when i got it.
for £69 your can get 285 mil discs , drilled and grooved or front and rear for about £100 + post. check the link.
the discs are good , i used them on a brake upgrad for my sons rover 200.
Hope this helps, Bren.

Standard Vitesse carriers are fit for 262mm discs, 285s were fitted to the V6 cars and M1 820 Turbos, iirc.

Bren, I hadn't realised Dan had made a post on here as well. If you guys are already sorting this, ignore the post I made on 800.info, mate.
