Re: Bhp app
Well in that case I watched videos of unicorns dragons wizards witches trolls fairies flying people so they must be real lol
Seriously tho if there was an app for bhp would you trust it? Would put a lot of rr places out of business where was the video? In interested in watching it..... Also what would the parameters be? How could it gauge your bhp? Just by driving down the road?

Re: Bhp app
probably just a database of standard cars, no way would an iphone app be able to measure bhp its lb-ft x rpm/5252

Re: Bhp app
worth noting that gives you the bhp at the given rpm and not peak hp.

Re: Bhp app
You can get an app to measure boost on vag cars. You just need a bluetooth adapter that plugs in where the diagnostic cable goes. It works the same as a liquid gauge does. The boost is pretty acurate tbh but the other stuff you get on the app is useless.

Re: Bhp app
Yeah the liquid is like a mini computer, tells you loads of stuff thats going on with the car. I havnt got one but done quite alot of research on them. A friend has the phone app and it works well for boost an bhp from what ive been told.
No good for a rover though i guess.

Re: Bhp app
Torque pro gives you a lot of live real time data
Re: Bhp app
An app can tell you your hp if it has rpm, weight, drag and rolling resistance.
I use a similer tool and it's extremly accurate.

Thats what torque pro does you have to input all data of vehicle and it uses gps ect to work everything out as well as sensors in phone to work out lateral forces
Re: Bhp app
Ive not seen any of that on torque pro? Is it one of the addons?
Also with a mobile device using GPS you only get 10hz which is pretty useless for performance measurments. Ideally you need a 100hz gps receiver.
The simplest method is to rely on G sensors, but with phones this is a bit haphazerd and of course there is no RPM feed.
I would recomend if you want to measure BHP and acceleration at home to get a second hand Gtech device. These are spot on and i have a spreadsheet to calculate BHP from its readings. I actually lean towards its accuracy over Rolling roads now. Last RR day we had I miraculously managed to guess my BHP to within 0.7%

Re: Bhp app
You've just reminded me I have a Gtech meter somewhere...
I imagine a smartphone with an accelerometer (which I understand some have) would be able to work on exactly the same principle as the Gtech.

Re: Bhp app
Its the same principle yes, but the Gtech has RPM and a more accurate Gsensor (ive seen people claim otherwise but from my experiance i go with the dedicated device!)
I suppose if you have an obd connection to the phone then the phone may start to be reasonably accurate by combing the readings.
At some point ill do a comparison. Not that I have a control but the comparison should say something!

My Gtech doesn't measure RPM, only g.
