I've been watching these Engines on ebay only to discover they've been stolen!

My son and I have had Engines, Gearboxes and Alloy Wheels stolen in the past few years. Metal Thieves! My Twin-Axle trailer ''disappeared" too when bolt cutters were used to access my property. Didn't used to happen. Police Camera Action type TV footage shows Eastern EU folks stealing copper cables from Railway facilities etc. It's really getting out of hand now. Millions involved never mind dangerous safety and delay aspects of such harmful practices!

Now retired, I'm home much more often. Twice recently I've seen uninvited Folks wandering around my property looking at some ongoing car or building work. Romanians when challenged. They only have to ask but, don't. I allowed two to sort through the skip and recover any metal content. The Builder's Van saw a tool box become "mislaid". Five hundred quids worth! Didn't used to happen.

Just one of the benefits of soft touch UK's open door EU policy. Obviously they're here for the benefits which come in a multiplicity of forms apparently.

In Cardiff it's the pikeys and Muslims. (As with any mention of the M word I'd like to say I'm not racist btw, just fact and observation)

Pikeys have been given fuel cards to stop them syphoning lorries and running cherry diesel.

And in the schools entire toilet blocks have have to be ripped out because the crappers happened to face East. You also never see a traffic warden near a mosque however bad the carnage is from parked traffic.

As I mentioned on another post, I don't personally have anything against EU immigrants, in the industry I work in they filled a void caused by the many skilled workers going to the UAE (mainly Dubai) in the last 10 years. Cardiff has never been victim of crime from this cross section.

We had 'nomadic travellers' in the area up here, what I must point out, is everyone in the north end of Scotland knows each other so it's kind of a big thing when outsiders come into the area. Oddly enough a large quantity of copper coiling disappeared from our frequency transmitters at work which is a secured MOD property and the pikeys were gone the next day. We had to ground all aircraft that day as we had no radios and it was a flight safety risk for them to get airborne without comms.

We have very few foreign nationals up here, no Asians, very few Afro-Caribbean, few Eastern European as well as a handful of Muslim worshiper's or those of the Jewish faith. It's quite strange but there is very little crime although those committing it are the poverty stricken chav families from the run down areas that think the world owes them a favour and have 5+ children.

That's because you're in choockter land it's worse down this way, Glasgow area, for pikeys. There was a family of them along from a job we were doing and they kept walking past us clearly casing us to see what was valuable. Got to the point where someone had to stay with the van all day

I started an identical thread with same title over on MG-Rover.org which went into overkill with one low count lurking 'contributor' suddenly appearing and seeing the identical post as racist. Accusing me of all manner of stuff! User ID rammerboy.

As soon as he demonstrated that he had convinced himself that the post was racist I could no longer take rammerbot seriously. I replied to each of his increasingly irate 'keyboard warrior' postings with a less than serious approach. Helpfully suggesting a visit to Specsavers would be a good move. Even posted that he had checked my profile and had seen that I had been previously banned! Obviously 'seeing things' which are not there. Suggesting I should be banned as two bans meant a permanent ban from the site. Pathetic. I have never been banned. My request for him to feel free to copy and paste the ban details from my profile was ignored.

I strongly suspect that rammerboy was yet another recently activated migrant low post excrement stirring lurker from another car web site which shall be nameless. The style and word use used closely followed that of another recently reactivated low post lurker who is no longer able to post on MG-R.org. Could be ...

In one of the very final posts before the thread was removed by a moderator who no doubt felt it too much work to sanitise, deleted the whole thread as the expedient thing to do. That's understandable. rammerboy posted his actual name in one of the last postings on the thread.

If anyone sees anything in my posts that may cause offence, please let me know. My sole reason for posting in the first place was to alert anyone who may not be aware of just what lengths metal thieves will go too to steal a few quid. So if you have any car parts not tucked away that are of value to you, move quickly. They may disappear tonight like several engines, gearboxes, twenty foot long trailer and a whole car disappeared from my property. Plus the damage caused in accessing the premises.

So, dear reader, be vigilant and keep 'em peeled. There's far too much of it about and worst still, is increasing.

John, I saw your post on .org and read what you said. Some time after I was so surprised to see how many replies there were. I started reading and could not beleive what was written. And while I was reading last post and clicked on refresh thread was gone. I really could not see anything problematic in your thread as said here. Seems it is for the best it is removed completely.
As always I see your intention and I am grateful for your informative threads. As I could not reply on .org in removed thread I just wanted to say this here.

Yes, rammerboy ( who I still strongly suspect was a lurker from another car site intent on causing trouble ) really went over the top based on a false premise. As soon as he wrongly convinced himself that he was right, I could not take him seriously.

Had I wanted to do what he accused me of, I could have done a much better job. ..

Having suffered big losses, damage and inconvenience as a result of metal thieves, I merely wanted to alert others to ensure they take steps to avoid losses. It is widespread here in the UK now as those experiences and the numerous Police TV programmes clearly demonstrate.

Not long ago, I was working on a Rover 600 in favourite local scrap yard. A Czech was working on the car alongside me and a Pole on the other side... It's like a league of Nation's there sometimes... I was working for two hours removing a gearbox under less than ideal conditions and both asked to borrow some of my tools whilst I worked. I was pleased to help with their request. Then a chap from Nigeria came over asking if I had a small hacksaw he could borrow. I joking said something like do not leave the country before returning it. He had a sense of humour and appreciated the joke.

Got talking to them all during that time. They all spoke some English and I admired that. The Nigerian spoke English as well as myself. Funny thing was the Pole and the Czech did not have a good word to say about the other. I found that amusing.

However, all returned my tools with thanks. I'll help anyone if they are polite and ask nicely.
