Rite Guys iv recently been offered a rover 75 estate, picture below is off ebay but more or less identical



now correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know iv done a bit of digging and basically the owner is a elderly lady who I told a year or so back that if she would ever sell I'd be interested, so she's been intouch and iv found out a bit of info about the car off her,

Her husband who's now sadly passed away bought the car unknown when this was at the moment in time but from what iv heard it was one of 3 rover 75 estates that were in yellow apparently they were the last 3 to leave the production line then Longbridge closed 48 hours later.

As it goes they were destined for the air ambulance service hence being yellow but due to the colapse of mg I don't think all of them made it to the air ambulance service.

So for the nitty gritty bit she's going to send me a list of a the bespoke bits on it but from what i can see It has the 75 v8 front bumper fitted which I think it a touch of class, got to be rare as rocking horse poo also has Zenons and I think there called vortex alloy wheels 55000 miles full leather genuine condition is near showroom barring what i think I spotted was mabey a slightly darker shade of yellow on the back bumper but may if just been my eyes in the sun.

She's after 2500 for it, any advice on this wether to haggle of snap her had off?

It's the bmw cdti engine which had the auto box.

£1800 is where i would be (i'm not a fan of sunspot yellow) at but the diesels are bullet proof up to 200k so don't be offended paying £2500 for a mk2.

I saw one of these at POL 2014 and loved it.



I personally wouldn't have the balls to haggle on price with an elderly widowed lady.

For that car, with that spec and mileage, I'd happily pay that price for it.

I think you will find that it is actually Trophy Yellow As that is an MG standard colour, and not normally applied to a Rover (apart from the Streetwise, which went through the same paint shop as the ZR anyway), it would make sense as a special order for an an Air Ambulance support vehicle.

Plastic bumpers often give rise to slight differences in the shade between the main body and the plastic parts - possibly because the bumpers are not painted at the same time as the rest of the bodywork, but are fitted later (already sprayedup). Trophy Yellow in particular is well known for slight mismatches in shade between these parts when they were new. It is possible that the bumper has been replaced or repainted (there are at least two distinct mixes of this colour which don't match, as people doing accident repairs have found out!), but unless the mismatch is significant, I would say it is quite likely to be original.

The Trophy Yellow actually looks quite good on the Rover 75 (oddly, I think it looks better on the Rover 75 than it does on the MG ZT - perhaps the 75 grille breaks it up a bit better). It somehow never looked right on the Rover Streetwise.

Looking at the information from the build records as given on http://www.mg-rover.info/, there do indeed appear to have been just 3 135ps 75 Tourer CDT Contemporary SE built in Trophy Yellow.

Hey chaps thanks for you input some really great points.

To be honest I am struggling to haggle with the old dear, just seems wrong to try, I offered her 2 the other day but by the sounds of her she says online that she's been offered 2500 so me been me said 2200 then 2300 then 2400 and left her to stew, I told her I'd ring her tomorrow and I'm going to offer her the full 2500 I don't want to come across as a haggler who's going to try beat her down, I'm not a bad person! She knows what she wants so will happily give her what she asks.

good to know there was only 3 ever made in that colour, interesting to know about the colour mismatch from body pannel to bumper, I have a yelliw zr and have always wondered if it had been in a rear end smash as the rear bumper always appeared in a different shade.

I'm sure my old man's a member on the mg forum, would be good to see when it was produced and if it was one of the last 3 ever to be produced before they collapsed, I never knew they ever did a yelliw streetwise! Gonna Google it now! Bet that looked odd!

I'v always been drawn to the estate with it been yellow with the v8 bumper it just seems to be in a league if it's own, really like it a lot.

I'll be intouch with the old lass tomorrow and try my best to strike a deal and get a delivery date

Two certainly did. Apparently MG Rover was to have made a donation of five cars to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service to enable them to offer a 24 hour emergency service (the air ambulance was only able to operate during daylight), but the company went into administration before they were delivered.

In July 2005, John Towers and the other Phoenix directors bought two of the yellow 75 Tourers from the administrators of MG Rover and presented them to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service for conversion to fast response ambulances: http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/busines ... up-3994435. Not sure whether the third Trophy Yellow one became an emergency vehicle too, or whether it was just sold out through the dealer network?

A great article, very good bit of digging! I'v searched Google and only got a few story's but not the extent of yourselfs.
I'm guessing if 2 were sent to the air ambulance devision then the one I'm getting must of been the one that was left.

Hoping to get a bit more light on the subject when I get it on Monday as it's got full service history which should be good to see where it's been.

Took delivery of tha beast today, no pics as yet as I didn't get round round to it, looks really well got full service history 53000 miles 2 owners from new, it was the one that got sold off the other 2 went onto the air ambulance crew.

A real nice motor more of a cruiser than a power house not one you'll see every day.

Will get some pics up the backend of the week.

I presume it will of been a ex air ambulance service motor as from the digging iv done 2 of the 3 went there and the one I have was the one that got sold! Would be good to see them, anyone know if they were at pol this year?

Haha! The good old trusty addendum's they come up now and again on ebay bit of a rareaty these days usually when the do come up there wanting good money for them.

I must admit I really like them, I have a set of zs v6 wheels which I like just can't make my mind up which ones are best! Also have a couple of sets of streights and a set of harpins!

Hey Ravinder it's a beauty I love it, I registered the other month on the 75 club but havnt been back on, are you on there? Havnt posted anything. Will put some more pics up when I get round to getting it on the road. It's in storage for now but hoping to have it sorted in the near future.

It's a rare beast so cant justify putting clocking up the milage think it will be used for the nice days which we get few of.
