Well the specs on the fez rs are 133bhp and around the same 0-62 time as the coupe.

If it was standard I'd say it would be a close race in a straight line

from what i know the escort rst is 8ish seconds 0-62 whereas coupe turbo is 6.5ih the one im wandering about ia a 200bhp escort rst, and i looked up some specs in fast ford mags and these were onlyruniing 7secs 0-62 and 14.5 1/4 mile, and thats alot of money spent to keep up with a standard coupe turbo

All the RST's are lighter cars than the rover turbos. So a 200bhp one should beat a Standard 200 turbo in a straightline.

here some spec for yas

fez rs is 133bhp (as Null_Byte pointed out) and 0-60 in 7.9
s1 is 132bhp and 0-60 in 8.1
s2 is 133bhp and 0-60 in 8.2

but whats more interesting is this

Image

it a tested list of all sorts of rsts in performace ford. s1 270bhp is only doing 7.84 to 60 and a 15.49 1/4 mile!!

Thats most probably down to the driver and traction.

Or down to the hugely peaky torque curve giving 200bhp but then its all over.

Agreed, seem to remember Jamie Going saying that, by 300bhp, traction was such an issue that 50bhp more actally made him slower (he ran a 13.5 1/4 iirc)

A 'Standard' Rst cant keep up with a Ti, I'll vouch for that one.
Nor can a R5 Turbo, can vouch that one too :D

So a Coupe T shouldn't have to much trouble..

Best way to know is race one, and find out! :D

I kept up with an RST in my old 216 coupe. It didnt seem that fast - probably because it wasnt even an RS, theres loads of replicas floating around my way.

I 200bhp RS Turbo weighs about as much as a fag packet.

They are very light.

My mates one is 200bhp and runs 14.3 on the 1/4mile. The same as me :(

They can be pretty dam quick but they have traction issues.

ive had a fiesta turbo , series one and a series 2 and id say it would depend on how the rs turbo was built , what boost does a standard coupe turbo? my old s2 was running 14psi and that was only 180bhp. At 200bhp the rst is on the limit unless the owner has a zetecd or 1.9 american block bottom end , either way it would be a good race :D
MY REPLIES ARE MY OWN OPINION, I SPEAK MY MIND! IF YOU POST PICS OF YOUR CAR EXPECT CRITICISM!
