god damn f***ing piece of no good crap car!

Post by Scott »

Grrrrr.

just finished totally nackering someones pc (which took 5hours+ and wasnt even my fault) and now have to go back and do a full install...

Get to the petrol station at about 11:30pm, just wanting to get my petrol and go home with no hassle, when mr central locking / immobiliser decides to stop working.

seems that the fob is dead, so after abotu an hour of setting off the alarm time and time again (only to get laughed at by chavs cos im still in my work clobber aswell), eventually it beeped at me by using the key, and i was able to drive off...

Local chap ive seen in his mint SD1 pulled up behind and we exchanged pleasantries inbetween cursing my now stationery 'nice car'

Think im gonna need a Jar of smoke to trace this one! might have something to do with the humidity today aswell.

rant over.

Anyone know what causes it?

well i havent had chance to mess around with it yet , but i think its the fob.

The red led always glew dimly (despite brand new batts a month or so ago) and has now stopped glowing (although had stopped glowing before and still worked).

I know the CCU and alarm ecu still works cos it still goes off, and the interior lights go on when i unlock the car without opening the door, as does the central locking work. Ill check to see if the alarm is still armed though.

Gonna go find the price of a fob later, prolly extortionate...

it could just be the microswitch, ill open it up later and investigate.

As for the fusebox it could be, as a reverse polarity jump start nackered the CL fora while, then after the engine blew up and it stood for months, it then started working again, so i know its the wires / fuxebox etc.

I take it back.

got in the car at lunch time today, and it unlocked with the fob! i though great, its working.

Got in the car, locked with the fob again, fantastic!!

not quite, locked myself in the car with the alarm armed :( got out only for the alarm to go off in the works car park making myself look a complete t1t (supposed to go off when someone gets in!).

Went to rover, new fob is 95squid.

new batts have sorted it though, LED now lights well. shame the batts only last 2 motnhs?!

You've not had something pressing the button for any length of time have you like a key pressing it when they're in your pocket? Either that or you had dodgy batteries, mine have been fine since I bought the Vit

I'm a thinkin' you'm owes yer "Good ol' Boy" Rover an apology meight... or, mininmum, a severe polish up the exhaust. If I were it, I wouldn't want to be fobbed off noway nuffink, nohow m8.... :)

Funny howz folks goes into immediate terminal decline as soon as summuts up, or down with their old motors. Often more th>n not, tis them simplest thinggies, like batteries full of dudness that's ....ing to blame...;)

that a farmers accent john?? i tried to sing it back as a 'rap' but it still doesnt sound right lol

still, i should be nicer to the car, like you say, itll get a treat this weekend.

I went back to the same place where i got the last batteries. a stupid little bloke in a trailer thing in the high street. "Battery celler" he calls him self. When he took the fob apart and fitted the batteries he said i had odd ones in there. i said thats funny, i paid you last time for 4 new ones. He must have skanked me then! if i fit a towbar i could take him for a 'trip' down the a40 muhahahhahahhah.

He advised i got a new fob before new batteries (As it was killing the batts), as now i saw him put 4 new ones in, ill know when its worked for months that he really did skank me last time... Anger rising...

Now there's a thing ... The BBC badmouthing British Cars.

I bet half their clueless workforce do not know what that leading B is in their organisation's name represents. Although to be fair, knowing their attitudes as I do, they've probably changed their organisation's name by deed poll, thus divorcing themselves from the 'British' element of those three letters... B B C.

Again, to be fair to them, there are plenty of crap cars about. Here I have in mind a number which the B B C would tell you are superb in every way.

Media speaketh with forked tongue..;)

There's another thing - something instantly bad mouthing the BBC

I think you'll find that whilst it is probably funded by the BBC, its actually written by the guy who does sniff petrol, not the "clueless" BBC work force

Hi Scott, long time no chat, glad to see you still have your rover. My sterling got sold and I am driving a Alfa romeo 145 Cloverleaf at the moment, it's quick (150bhp in a light car), handles, sounds good and is pretty good on fuel. I think that guy with the SD1 woks with me, was the car a Rover 2000 in red, and the Guy's name Tim?
Regards.

Glad it's working now Scott :)

The hatch's fob is a bit tempremental, seems to only work every other time, pretty sure that is the microswitch

Funny that, in my work someone printed off reviews of my car (well the mk2 200 series), and highlighted all the negative points, my reply was that he must have a bad sex life if he stayed up all night finding them than spend time with his other half ! Also had another guy slagging it off, after i took him out in it, this opinion had changed and he loved it ! :D
