it is another case of the insurance companies jumping off the deap end. I can see this ending soon with rovers being uninsurable. That and being worthless as they are losing 20% a month at the moment
They're only losing so much money because idiots will sell them for buttons, I've seen people selling post 96 cars for less than I've sold a M and L reg car's with 130K plus miles.
I'd have a damn good chat with the insurance co and say you want everything in writing how they're not going to insure you and why thats the case, for your next insurance co.
Technically that could go down in your insurance history as being refused insurance.
If you tripe n onions and moan long enough they'll probably let you out of the deal without tearing you a new one.

MK II Sterling Fastback in Gold with rust highlights on LPG (hells teeth the seat heater certainly works)
Ohh that was a long time ago, that's girders in China now...
I can't cancel the policy as i'll have to pay around 80% of the insurance, now my sisters getting a car it means one has to go, fiesta or Rover. Since the fiesta is insured, im afraid the Rover will have to go!
I'll get a turbo when i have some NCB...
Its not over for Rover yet, don't worry.

So this is all because supposedly parts won't be available to repair in the event of a crash. (Have they not seen the circular from CAT saying they guarantee parts for the next 12 years?) But sure weren't they always very eager to write off cars anyway and not allow people to buy them back?
And what's to stop them insuring you third party anyway? They can still cover third party claims and personal injury claims.
the laugh is its not like any coupes have been made for a number of years....so the downfall of rover aint really gonna do a fat lot to the availability of bits post accident....
i had a couple of companies tell me this when i was shoppin about...

Phone them up and bore them to tears with questions, as I said before you want it all explained to you, then ask them to put all of that in writing once it's all been explained
Ask for names, extension numbers, their department etc, of everyone you speak to.
Eventually one of the guvnors will be called in to talk to you, because the poor buggers on the phones won't want the stress.
Bosses can't be arsed with yakking to punters about tuppence ha'penny's worth of insurance so they'll probably just refund your money to make you go away.

Blimey, not even a years NCB? When I was in that situation I was forced into driving a rust bucket of a Mini Sprite to get some NCB back on the board. I ended up givinf my Escort RS Turbo to my girlffriend of the time as couldn't give it away I understand your frustration.
As regards name and shame.....
Admiral - who up untill then had always been good - wanted to increase my insurance 50% for an SP50 (80mph on the M6 - not even me, the wife was driving)
Norwich Union - would insure me (once the language barrier between England and India had been bridged) and at a good price for all mods except a home fittted boost gauge. Would insure me if fitted by a garage so told 'em to sod off.
So its a sheddy engine too? Didn't say as much in the eBay ad, hope it isnt won by someone like Majestic Power, else you'll be cruising for a bruising for playing down its oil consumption
"the engine smokes on overrun" is what it says in the ad.
Im being honest, hence the low price cus i want it gone....
Test the engine, in wales...?
Its guaranteed for six months so the seller will be getting an earful monday morning.
The lesson to be learnt here is that Rovers have depreciated like a ho, and hence, are crap for selling on, no matter how much i enjoy owning this car, i've had enough.

"We don't insure Rovers anymore !!". What a load of baloney. Why? I'll tell you. They are worried about repairing, replacing them but I bet they still insure Mk2 Capris, Cortinas and Escorts and you can bet the parts are easier to find than Rovers, NOT.
Just an excuse to run from a risk. So when Rover/MG start up again in two years time I bet they will insure them again.
Blinkin' insurance companies, I should know, I work for one but at least we still insure Rovers
Sorry to hear that.... perhaps you'll get another one day. JUst a point though, my local ROver dealer is selling 55 reg's ZR's and Zt's at cheapo prices, 55 ZR105 @ £7995 and deliv milegae ZT-T 190 @ £16,995. If I only had the money...
