Nope early sterlings had a grey key which only did the drivers door and ignition, so the valet couldnt access the boot/glovebox.

It's a 'master' key, that allows replacements to be coded to the immobiliser
Does that mean it reprogrammes the alarm. Because when i lock the car with the fob The leds don't work near the door locks. I'm not even sure the alarm is working? How do I test it?
No, has nothing to do with the alarm just the immobiliser. If the alarm isn't setting then I'd start by checking switches, especially the bonnet switch, as it's in the lock, so gets gummed up, so system thinks it's open, boot and door switches usually easy to spot as you'd get the open warning lights up on the dash, but do get the bulb in the boot light as thats been known to cause problems

Thanks. I've noticed the passengerdoor interior light switch doesn't work. Could this be A fault to the alarm?
It may not help, however it shouldn't stop alarm working as the system will read it that the door is shut, which will only cause problems if someone managed to gain entry through that door, the alarm wouldn't sound (unless interior sensors picked up movement but they only work when arm with fob, inactive if you lock with the key).
If I was to lock the car with me in it, then open a door. Should the alarm sound? If not It should but doesn't I will check the things you have mentioned.
If locked with the key yes, if system arms, which if the indicators don't flash system isn't armed, it won't arm by locking from inside either. I'd play around with bonnet catch first off, give it a good clean up see if that helps
