quick update on the repair, this is what it looked like before, the pillar was bent as such you could only fit 1 finger in between the pillar and the chair, the repair has widened it to be able to fit nearly your whole fist! so its only about an inch out :),

Before
Image

Took the rear door off and forced the front door open, with a small amount of persuasion ;) and it looked pretty bad,

Image
Image

badly bent pillar, kinked midway and bent badly at the bottom around the sills, to fix the bent pillar, I tied a rope around it and attactehd that rope to my dads hilux :D, pulled it out about 10 times gently at various points up and down the pillar and it ended up straigtening it really well to within an inch of what it originally was :), that was all well and good but because the doors were bent out as well they no longer fitted, (oh joy) so some gentle persquasion was in order.

made good use of the rubber mallet, I havent managed to get all the dents out but it looks almost straight now :) so fairly happy with the result

doesnt look that much but the difference is really noticble from the inside!

I did just that :P I waited till he went out then just drove it in front of the car and attatched ropes to it, took a few good tugs but it really did work !, not so sure about the structural intergretiy of it anymore though :(

Getting back to the meet...

Can Me & my Missus come, even though were not from Swindon?

I think I'm not working that weekend.

Im desperate to go (to meet likewise coupe turbo owners!) but gotta get my mot done. Done the exhaust manifold blowing, replaced oil and filter and pas fluid as well as water levels. Just need 2 new front tyres (17s) and the front and back padds changed and adjusted (and bled) and tighten up the cat as I had to take decat off.
If anyones around to give us a hand then I will def be there if I can get it thru on time.

Sorry guys, my router fcuked up on me, and for some reason I didn't think to restart it, so this is the first time in about five days that I've been on RT.

In response, Phil, AYE MAN!, Anyone and everyone is welcome!

I've roped a couple in from Rover800.co.uk, in my absence by the way.

I'm in, so long as I've got the time off. We've got until the 4th or 5th to get it done, so ought to be fairly easy to squeeze in a day off for us both so we can give him a hand...

Does any body know if juliangungho has confirmed yet?

If he is coming then i will definately attend because i'd like to see his VTEC conversion in the flesh and discuss it with him before i start ploughing money into possibly converting mine 8) I live in Newport so it's only 60 miles up the M4 for me and i can pop in and see my mate in Abingdon at the same time while i'm up there

Guys, been let down by my bro in law coz hes always at work.
Just to let u know. The mot failed because inefficent brakes front and rear and handbrake not efficint. My bro in law had a quick look and said pads were low on one side of both front and back.
Read on the stickies about doin the back brakes but never done front or back brakes b4 (more of a electrician myself!). Seems quite easy but would rather grease and clean everything while its all apart. Will get pads soon as on very tight budget and mite even need to borrow my bros 17s to use until I got money for tyres.
Sorry to claim poverty but im desperate to get my car back on track but also want to learn these things myself so as soon as weather cheers up i will sort.
So looks like im gonna miss it. Sorry lads.

Cheers vard. Its just that I havent got no funds to pay anyone at the mo so wouldnt expect anyone to give me a hand for nothing so gonna have to do them myself.
Need to get the pads but priced them up at £40 for both front and back from local factors.Get paid thursday so should be able to get them at weekend.

*Laughs* I wouldn't accept anything for lending a hand anyway! Seriously, speak up and I'll come help if I can get the time off, and I'd be willing to bet Din will, too.

I can't decide which car to come in. Either insane small one or 620ti with the (by then) new 16-inch Sterling wheels! :?
