What's the honda equivelent?
How come honda didn't get to make a coupe, 3dr hatch, estate or saloon concerto then?

How come they stopped using honda engines in about 96 then if they were still friendly using the honda chassis?

There isn't - certainly not in terms of engineering.

Because they had no interest in making one - it was a purely British exercise in order to maximise profit potential by making a range of models..

Contract terms - don't forget BMW bought Rover in '94 - as far as Honda were concerned, any active partnership had come to an end from that moment onwards - but they had to honour any outstanding contracts. Of course - buying in Honda engines was costing Rover a packet too - so they switched to their own units (which were ready by then; the KV6 to replace the C27 in the 800, the 1.6/1.8 K16 etc)
