as above ie top speed

pointless question with no definitive answer, there will be a few T16's that can hit the limiter in 5th so it comes down to who has the biggest wheels and what gearbox they have.
Doesn't neccesarily mean it's the fastest one etc.

I suppose one with modified ratios and a very tall 5th :!:

a better question would be the quickest 0-60 or 0-100 time or highest horse power, as (as has been previously stated) it will come down to gear ratios.

well modded then including gearbox mods any 160-170mph
what will a t16 hit on the limiter standard

The fact is that "fastest" is actually a pretty vague term.

In that case i would prolly say anyone with a ZT 260 V8 would (given enough road) have the fastest car

fastest recorded is andy robinson at ten of the best 3.
171.8 from a standing start over 1.25miles.

Andy R's old coupe did 172 IIRC at TOTB.
Standard coupe on standard wheels will do 163 IIRC on the limiter, so mine will do a real 160+ I'm 99% certain, 1% doubt because I haven't tried it. on a lesser spec it did 154 from 0 in 1.2 miles

Nice one, why do they only quote 150?

i think we should arrange a rover bhp challenge and a track day at bruntingthorpe... put a few answers on the table, i have had my ti at 155 ish, with rpm to spare, but caught sight of the babylon and had to slow down comnsiderably!!!

Apparently the PG2 box as fitted to the ZS 180's will allow you to hit 177mph in 5th at 6,800rpm.... the problem is getting the power to get to the limiter in 5th! lol
Any of you T16 boys thought about swpping in the gears from the ZS? Close ratio 1-4 for accleration and a long 5th....

Hi,

I'd take whoever told you that with a pinch of salt, the ZS180 uses a PG1.
Any of you T16 boys thought about swpping in the gears from the ZS? Close ratio 1-4 for accleration and a long 5th....
Zs 180 Ratios (C6BKUH) :
1st 3.166
2nd 1.842
3rd 1.307
4th 1.033
5th 0.765
F/d 3.937
220 Turbo (K7)
1st 2.923
2nd 1.75
3rd 1.222
4th 0.935
5th 0.765
F/d 3.647
ZS 180 box is a wider ratio box with the same 5th as a 220 Turbo box, but lower final drive.
Cheers

The 163mph is simply the road speed you'd get (on standard wheels) if you could hit the rev limiter in 5th gear. It's simply engine revs x gear ratio x wheel circumference.
The car can't actually do it because it doesn't have enough torque at high revs to reach the rev limiter - the majority of cars are like this. Now if you tuned the engine to increase torque then you'd be able to do it

the zs 180 uses a pg2 box. and so far i have seen 165 out of mine, but was very closed to limiter certainly wasnt another 12mph in it

Exactly, and also anyone who is quoting what they have done in their cars, based on what the speedo said, should just ignore it, as the speedo is being generous to you and at that speed will be over reading a lot. There was a lot of difference between the speedo, and the speed trap at TOTB, I had the speedo at the stopper at 151 a fair bit before the line and it sped up a fair bit , revs climbing all the way to the line and past, speed on the speed trap was a real 154 and I reckon if the speedo went higher it would have been way over 160 indicated with the over read.
I take it the Ti speedo's go higher then?

I remember a feature in Auto Express magazine yeeeears ago comparing the speedo acuracy of a group of popular cars, think the worst was a mondeo which read 78 when really doing 70

. Most others were around 2-4mph off at a true 70, so you couldn't really rely on the speedo at 150+.

Is your car standard? The book top speed for a ZS180 is 139mph. The figures are rarely conservative...
The speedo on my 800 was out about 8mph compared to GPS at 90mph

Hi,
the ZS180 uses a C6BKUH PG1 box, not a PG2.
Theoretical top speed with standard size ZS180 tyres (205/45/17) is about 158mph assuming a 6800rpm limit.
You would need over 7500rpm to get 175....
My ZS180 would only ever nudge 140mph on the clock.
Cheers

GPS on the laptop showed 157mph on my coupe when I still had it. Don't know how far round the rev counter was, was concentrating on the road!
Was rather noisy (wind noise) at that speed, good fun tho.

In you dreams colin
I think andy nicholls got close to 180mph in a magazine artical?
150mph+ is pretty difficult to acheive on on a airfield its not like doing it on a road, usually its windin your face etc...
It also depends if they let you use the back straight and bend as a run up
Last time I did it my brakes failed at bruntingthorpe...not good!

I've had 120 reading on the speedo which if you take the 10% off isn't that much. Mind you Mines a standard 2.0 R600 with 17 vitesse wheels. What is the bhp of the 600?

Had mine off the clock and to the reset button at least 5 times in ownership which i know is going to be nowhere near accurate, only taken the gps road angel & satnav upto 135mpyh , at which time the speedo was shwoing 131mph

no my car isnt standard.. its modifed. but yes the zs has a top speed of 139 std.
its been said 170 odd is capable of the car. i have seen it off the clock and then some, at the time the gps read 165..

in day to day use, its in gear accelaration that really matters, most people here know this.
