countless, though only a small percentage from the lights and tbh none for a long time, must be getting old and growing out of it...mostly lol.

older 911 turbo (not from lights, just a private road)
Ferrari around Knockhill
lots of modified jap stuff

and had my lickings as well, there's always someone faster. car and figs in signature, though tbh the 911, ferrari etc were when it had just the rear seats and boot trim removed and running around 275 bhp

- Kept with a Boxster S
- Got very surprised by a BMW 120d (he was surprised too though. those things are quicker than you'd think)
- Also got very surprised by a Cav 4x4 turbo, was equal speed to mine.
- Killed several Civic R's
- 300bhp Lancia Deltra Ingetrale, not around the twistys though but killed him in a straight line
- "Kept up" with a Ferarri something-or-other, can't remember what it was exactly but might have been a 360 or 430, something like that. He can't have been caning it properly but we did reach approximately 1.5 leptons on French autoroute and he wasn't pulling away. Great fun ;-)

I'm sure there are more but can't remember.
91 Citroen BX GTi 8v - bought March 13
95 Ford Mondeo 1.8i Ghia - March 11 - March 13 - scrapped
98 620 SLDi - July 08 - March 11
97 420 GSDi - dumped in France
94 420 GSi Turbo, 235bhp. Dec 03 - May 08, still missed
93 214 Si - June 02 - Feb 04

So paranoid about killing my steel caged bearings i tend to not bother with off the lights stuff often, more often than not im already at speed when it happens.

Bmw 330 diesel, new model was quicker than i was expecting but was all over it and passed him, he was prepared to drive like an ar$e to beat me but didnt.

Audi TT (225) He gave up very late in the rev range in fifth.

Mini cooper (bmw) i could go into corners quicker and exit quicker thought it would be better than the Ti in the twisties.

Lost to a guy in a golf tho with what i think is a V6 4motion engine in a VR6 2 door chassis with nitrous, had a word after.

Not too many at the lights, as it's too light to hold 'off-the-line' traction in 1st and 2nd gear but Ferrari 355 Marinello, Audi RS4, RS6, Golf R32 and TVR Tamora on the road from rolling starts.

Track 'victims' include DB9 Vantage, V12 Jag and Sierra Cossie.

However, if I can hold them to 2-3 lengths at the lights to 50mph, they're usually history when I change to fourth. :D

kept up with a few M3 csl (4 and counting)
owned a boxter
got the edge on an audi S4
beat a TT very badly
found a civic type R most amusing..even more so when he finally moved over.
beat a few scoobys....kept up with an 06 sti going for it.
as well as....
clio 172
206 gti
106 gti
MG ZR
lotus elise
& many others I can't remember

got beaten by an Audi R8 and an also audi RS4 on different occasions.

I don't think i've ever been even close to getting a good showing from any car of equal or even similar value :D

It's always nice when people give you some respect instead of thinking..pah a rover...

once at the lights next to a pimped passat tdi with huge intercooler and two pakistani guys in it... passenger winds down that window and says...

'is that a turbo?'

i nod and he then says

'we don't stick a sh*t but kick it mate and show us what it can do'

he got the outcome he expected but at the next lights just said that is quick as ****, nice car mate.. and was on his way.

Never race off the lights but from rolling I've served donkey boy to

more than one audi TT.
a 200sx after which the driver commented that the rover 'fairly shifts'.
mondeo ST220, was dangerously right up my arse on the single carriageway, across a roundabout onto a dual, so I kindly moved over to the slow lane before caning it away from him - got the mandatory loser flyby further along the road.
One particular redtop corsa on numerous occasions, cue numerous loser flybys.
Kept absolutely equal with a bmw 330ci from about 30-100km/h, was amazed how identical we accelerated. The beemer driver was about 55 and looked a bit confused.
Similarly equal with a new corsa VXR.

Have a mate with a civic type R but he refuses any sporting jaunts, think he's scared of the result in his shiny new pride n joy. Never in 2½ years found myself in front of or behind a scooby! :o

Ohhh, I forgot about the BMW 330d and 330i I've had a blast with, and the big flash S class Merc the other week.

Oh, and the Boxster coming out of traffic control on the motorway.

BMW drivers are such sour losers, needing to drive like t0ssers to prove they're better. Can't handle having their a$$ handed to them by a Rover.

Merc S class guy had a massive grin as I went past :D

Porsche was behind me in traffic control, when it cleared we both booted it... started pulling away when I got into 5th.

for me:-

330Ci, Mini Cooper, and a Golf VR6.

Oooo. Almost forgot... Rolling start, urinated on a Cosworth Escort.

Still, it was just me and he had a passenger, so maybe the weight was more than normal.

Pretty sure the 4WD transmission losses didnt do him any favours. No doubt if it had been a standing start, I would have been served.

pretty much everything...

most memorable was a 300zx turbo, tuned up, ironing board spolier, dump valve chirping every 5 seconds.... you know the type etc.

he came alongside me to the right and the passenger waved 'bye' (cocky git) at me out his window while the driver floored it, i dropped a cog and floored it and you can pretty much guess what happened next.

i slowed down and let him catch up and we had a chat through the windows... lol... he was quite impressed... gave me the thumbs up as they pulled away.

It's always good when they don't hide away and have a bit of a chat. That happend to me with the guy in the Cav 4x4 turbo.

I agree i had a Golf 2.0 almost kill himself and his passenger (his bint GF) to 'beat' me in my 420T, all because i overtook him earlier at relatively normal speeds, when he didnt accelerate very fast after a car in front made him slow down. It wasnt my fault he had a fat, slow, overpriced, over rated heap of german junk!

He got past by tasking a huge run up and overtaking on a blind curve over the crest of a hill, missing oncoming cars by inches. Of course i sailed passed him later without any effort once the road was safe, i then laughed at him at the next set of lights. He was fuming! LOL

And I wont even bother goin up against my m8s R8 :D

If my car goes thru the mot today im gonna treat it to 12psi ! :D

I had a play with a Focus RS once... he was right up my arse. In fact, at one point he was going to overtake.

Must have been tuned to feck. I still gave him a thumbs up though.

Tuned to feck ?

Are you serious ? The RS is a beast. It gets the same 0 - 60 time as a stock coupe but with all the other extras thrown in and only take a minor fettle to get well above standard figures.

Well done on the others, but there mustve been something very wrong with the M3 for you to have it, theyd p!ss all over mildly modded 220s, let alone one running 8psi

Dan, I know how quick they are as standard. A mate has one.

They're only what, 212bhp anyway.

Very easy to get 240+ from them.

Maybe 'tuned to feck' was the wrong phrase to use, but it was certainly pushing a fair bit of power.

Guess you've not had many goes with M3s then.. on a straight they are only marginally and I mean very very very slightly quicker than a coupe tubby. If tuned I'd think the tubby would be quicker....I know Dickies pulsar turbod coupe eats them.

I was surprised the first one I had a bash with but by the 3rd knew pretty much what to expect..including the look on the driver's face.
If they get the jump on you that's the distance they keep and over a half mile may up another car distance...if you get the jump it's a similar story in your favour.

to think they'd pee on a normal 220 turbby never mind a modded one is simply wrong.

LMFAO, Shen, ive had an M3 EVO , believe me itll anhialate a 220turbo. I guess the fact its well over 60hp per tonne over a 220 and 6geared gives it just a slight advantage mate ;)

on paper they should destroy any t16 turbo'd rover but either the 4 I've had stints with , none of them could drive or they're not quite all they are on paper.

I know how silly it would be to say it when you look at the stats of the cars but were it not for me having seen it on a few occasions I wouldn't post it.

The look on the driver's face on two occasions spoke volumes.

looking at stats for the M3 there seems to be quite a few versions... the M3 E30 is not great on paper.. if this is a new shape it's possible they were this model?

Yeah, i imagine they were thinking 'damnit, knew i shouldnt have M3 replica'd this 325i' :nyah:

Believe me (and im a Rover enthusiast) theres a world(or two) of difference between an E36 M3 and a 220turbo.

E30 is the old old old shape, E36 is the 90s one, e46 is the 99-07 model, and i cant remember what model code the v8 is.

is the M3 E30 a newish model? these on paper aren't spectacular to a coupe tubby, quite similar...could be possible they were this model?

If they were replicas they'd done a bloody good job on every one is all i can think.
ssen the edit.. i don't get it then but I'd like to see one that's a destroyer cos as yet I havent.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lien/16237107/

here's a pic of what the models in question....all looked legit to me so as said i'm pretty surprised and confused...perhaps they weren't pushing fully or theyre over exagerrated but considering theyre RWD too and each time was in the dry. :-/

Agreed I kept with one in my s2000 pretty well till triple figures (he had a edge over me). Then I felt like an anchor fell out my window. It just wasted me.

Had some fun off a few roundabouts and happened everytime, got a thumbs up after though. Very quick cars!

Still though, my best memory was racing a M3 CSL around donington. Kept with him for 5 laps

Running 10 psi but stayed in front. He had a girl in the car too.

Didn't even look at me when we got to the next set of lights :(
