Well I now own the front end running gear :D the guys down at RJK were great and removed the engine and all the parts while I was there. I helped and pointed out what bits i needed so nothing was damaged. Very good price in the end, £512 for the lot for 55K miles engine and box all the other bits i need for the conversion.

I highly recommend them for helpfulness and price.

Should make for an easy zr conversion

PS the rest of the interiour is mint for anyone with tired seats etc still smells new inside the car.

Total waste of a car, I completely agree.

I'm not sure you can really blame the owner mind, I mean if they were looking at getting a new car and it's £2k straight off, then it does make economical sense.

Doesn't make it right, still a waste of a car.

Can haggle a grand off if not more depending on the car and a coupe turbo with 55k on the clock is worth more than a grand though.

Yeah but it wouldnt be worth more than a grand on a px deal, most of the garages are tight arses and only pay parkers prices which are normally a joke unless your trying to buy a car that is  either way that is a complete waste of a nice car.

Who says you have to part exchange it.

Sell it on the open market, then go in with cash and a deposit to put down.

Of course, that's an option.. but the chances are it's be significantly less than £2k.

Even people on here are rarely willing to spend that, if somebody were to advertise it on here I bet the thread would be filled with 'if I had the money I would, but I dont' type answers. And that's after there's a 3 page discussion on how a low mileage FDH is better.... It would take a significant amount of time (which may mean there deal on the specific new car is missed or the delivery is delayed), would be hassle (which nobody every wants), and would likely have absolutely no financial benefits (more than likely a loss).

Ok, it's a complete waste of a car, but you can see why people do it. Instant £2k off, no questions asked. Most people aren't really going to give a crap if it's sold on or crushed, it's not theirs any more so what does it matter?
It's not nice, and I totally agree that it's a waste but it's the route that makes by far the most sense for the previous owner tbh.

At the end of the day, from the point of view of the previous owner, why would you NOT scrap it?

It's 100% the bright spark in the government who thought of this who's to blame IMO. Ok, the buying is stimulating the financial industry again, encouraging lending again (the local vauxhall dealer is even doing 0%) however the idea of getting the car industry going is balls, as most people are buying Hyundais and Kias. Plus it's soooooo unfriendly to the environment.

Maybe it'd be ok for £1000 as that really would get rid of bangers, but £2k is tempting for people with decent motors.

Strangely this looked like one that could have fetched £2k+. Did you not see how clean that engine bay was? Pretty good indication as to the rest of it :(
