Rover T-Series turbo engine with 55k

Post by vitesse »

I was at the breakers today and saw a GLEAMING 220 Coupe at the back in NFR.

Enquired as it was sooo nice and was told it was being broken as it was scrapped due to the Government Scrappage scheme. This is when it's WRONG! This car was mintier than mint, but is picking up bumps and knocks as its a busy yard but the engine was spotless.

Anyway - I said I'd post the details to the various forums I frequent in the hope that parts of this car can live on.

Breakers yards details

R J K
Unit 5 / Maypole Cr
Darent Ind Park
Erith
Kent DA8 2JZ
Telephone: 01322 348797 (Ask for Dan)

Car reference M311 TVW

I hope someone, somewhere will be able to use the engine at least!

That is stupid. I only consider a car scrap if it is rotted to hell, and even at that, some are worth saving. What a waste of a perfectly good low milage classic* car.

*everything* was shining, and without being pervy, it smelt fantastic inside - even better than my lower mileage 220GSi. I could have wept when I saw it.

You're not allowed to buy the whole car, believe me, if you could these would be pictures of the car on my drive!

Breaker guy was saying "you wouldn't believe what we've crushed recently" Grrr!

Bloody car scrappage scheme. This car belongs on the roads, unlike some of the cheaply made tat that will be ready for the breakers even before the car is paid for.. Very annoying!! :x

I wonder if there was a way...

Something along the lines of reregistering the car with a different chassis number (making it a different car).

OK might get registered as a Q plate or something, but... Just and idea.

Local to me as well. So if someone could advise.. I shoudn't really.. But too good to waste if it can be saved.

Looks like it has air con as well.

Nah, that was it.

It was packed in pretty tightly but I could have got more decent shots, but kind of figured it was pointless as by the next time I get there, it will, no doubt, be battered :(

you should of tried bargaining with them and bring the price down. You should be able to get something off it. £400 for all of it probably isnt too bad considering you'll get everything off it and its pretty low mileage,.

That's the cost of a recon engine. Good to see they're being realistic in what they're asking.

Greenpeace have actually stated that this scheme is wrong...building a car is what causes the most environmental damage. The longer you can keep it running, the more you offset it's initial environmental cost.

The government's scrappage scheme is actually a con, to keep the 'british' motor industry alive during a crisis ot their (the government's) making...

It is definitely criminal to see such a lovely car scrapped...

All the best,

Phil (who apologises for ever voting Labour) :sorry:

Speaking of the Scrappage Scheme, i saw a Mitsubishi EVO2 sprayed pink and its tyres and wheels blue being used as an advert for scrapping your 'banger' . Lol.

Also i really dont think it matters who you vote for, as they arent the ones in control.
