Woke up this morning to find girlfriends vvc coupe with a smashed windscreen, and dents on bonnet and wings

Car was sat on the driveway, and we've only just moved here! im sooooo angry. We hardly know anyone, and we havent upset anyone or made any enemys. i just dont understand.

Police are being useless. - they wont come down unless its a repeat offense, or unless its more serious. We have the bottle and broken shards that will have finger prints on them, and next door has security cam footage of the little scrotes. cant make out faces unfortunately, but one has a very recognisable bag. tinky winky dickheads.

Anyone know anywhere in the south east / north west london, that we could get a good deal on a windscreen? Shes 3rd party T&T only, and i dont think she has vandalism or windscreen cover.

I'd keep on at the old bill, ask for a case number and force them to do something, if that doesn't work, contact your MP. It's election time, so about the only time they will actually pull out a finger to help.

On a serious note, sorry to hear that mate. But the insurance would be pointless to. Youd pay more in excess than the damage was worth more than likely.
It is incredibly frustrating that this sort of activity is virtually allowed. I have to wonder about the mental state of those that did it?

I had to laugh at the copper that spoke to us about car thieves tho, without being bitter or nasty he just spoke about them like they were utter imbiciles! Which i guess goes for most criminals.

quick update - got i touch with the local neighbourhood watch guy- nice chap, and turns out theres were about 5 more reports that night in the area, of windows smashed, windscreen wipers torn off etc

hope the police catch the feckers.

We got a reasonable quote for a replacement screen from a chap on pistonheads who emailed me- hope he does a good job!

aparently theres two windscreens we can go for - the one with a blue tinted gradient sun stripe is cheapest. Is this worth it on a coupe? the windscreen is quite low on the coups, and was womdering if a grad tint would get in the eyeline a little

I am no longer a rep, I binned it off as it cost me a lot of money to defend people who were 90% of the time out of order. They thought that being in a Union made them exempt from taking the proverbial.

Other half's car is now sporting a new windscreen - fingers crossed theres no more vandalism in the area.


We found a top bloke to do the windscreen. He contacted us through pistonheads- charged £140, whereas autoglass were after.... £480!

He did a top job- an absolutely perfect instalation, and he has the coolest business cards ive ever seen - they're thin transparent plastic! (small things amuse me)

If anyone in the south east needs a screen, let me know and i'll pass on his details

I went with a little independant chap when I got the screen for my ti and it was about £200 cheaper than the brand names.

I've been given one of those plastic business cards too and was similarly impressed. Rule #32 - enjoy the little things.
