Who's falling out?

Post by radddogg »

Seriously, who was falling out????

Yeah that's it lock every topic that you don't agree with.

No-one was doing any harm, were just showing that what we did was no worse than what he did to other people.
Yes, beat me to it!

Considering the drug dealer jibe came from BJ, one of his closest allies I think he was being over-sensitive. If it was due to Stef referring to his lack of a real job then he retorted straight back at Stef saying he hadn't really got a proper job, but Stef know's he is a sandal wearing, Guardian reading, yoghurt knitting commie and it still doesn't bother him.

The thread was locked as it was only going to go down the route of a few peopple slagging each other off, and it was already getting personal.
To start another thread to complain about another thread being locked as you should full well know is not on !
Posting in Locked or Outdated threads
If a thread has been locked, there is probably a logical reason for it. If you feel that the reason(s) for closure of the original thread are unjustified or wish further clarification, feel free to contact any member of the moderating team. However, do not start a new thread about locked thread.

Cliquey? I hope you mean that in regards to me siding with Munky, because if you are implying that the two Irish men are in league with each other, then you are barking up the wrong tree, dogg...

However, if you do mean siding with Munky...

I can honestly say I have not spoke or had contact with Munky since the time he left. The thread was locked because in the end it lost track. James threw in a comment about you and it was actually his (James, not yours dear) post which prompted me to lock the thread. It would have no doubt have ended up to be a less than desired read.

As for locking what I don't agree with, like I said I have no issue with the topic or what had already been said. It may have led to all out slagging and it may not. The thread had its run and the answer to the question was established.

He didn't like 2 way traffic and left. If the thread was re-opened right now, I have no doubts it would pick up exactly where it left off, with one persons dismal comment upon the other.

I cannot see how you can have any issue after reading this, no-one has been slapped or sent a PM about anything, its business as usual. Carry on!

In cliquey I meant you and Munky not James.

As for locking it for James' comment, can you please give yourself a double   ? I knew James was ribbing, just like I was in my reply (just like Munky would have). James and I have already had words over PM about it to check we were both ribbing.

The reason I was unhappy about it being locked was that you had, had your say - that you felt Munky was being cyber-bullied (or to that effect) - but then locked it without letting us (the big bad bullies) defend ourselves.

Anyway, let's talk about something more controversial - like why has Vard deleted me off Facebook!!! Image

I find it easier to believe you meant the other. I can't work out why you would think I am defending Munky :?

It doesn't matter who it is, there is no harm is asking where he has gone but that thread was going to go into why and various opinions against someone who can't defend themselves. You can call me soft if you want but I would apply the same to yourself and any other member on here. It is not personal preference, its a little bit of respect for others.

You know where he is now, if anyone has any questions about him, go ask him.

I'd like to apologise for my part in that. The post which I made that prompted the lock was a joke at Radders, I purposely went OTT on the insults to make it obvious, but didn't put any smilies (no fun with smilies  )

Anyway, I was busy at work and didn't get to post back in it before 'twas locked, I PM'd Radders just to double check that he copped on I was taking the pee :) Which he had, hence the "Oh wait" bit in his reply to me in that thread :)

Only saw this thread now, so just wanted to apologise and clear up any residue.

'twas probably a tad too subtle really in hindsight.

I know, obviously I have said something to upset him or one of his clique at some point. Whatever.

Some may remember BJ having some controversial views which really upset me, yes, I was really upset at the time.....but its the internet, I'm sure he would have been more sensitive to my feelings if I was sat at his house crying into my horlicks. So I got over it and me and BJ get on just fine now, he even lets me have golden showers off his mrs

I like how the internet is used as an excuse for almost anything.

You are expecting me to read the minds of you and James. In future when you want to insult each other I will let it run.

Very few topics get locked on Rovertech Rob. When they are locked it is because people can't make the effort to get on with each other, or because they have broken the rules. Not because "we don't agree" with your viewpoint.

If we lock a thread we will get at least one person cry it is locked, if we don't we will get at least one person cry that it isn't.

Personally, if I locked every thread we disagreed in, you wouldn't have many threads left. :P Still we try and be as democratic and open as possible. Not that we get any thanks for it mind.
No-one was doing any harm, were just showing that what we did was no worse than what he did to other people.
"He started it sir!" - Seriously? This is not year seven. Are we not supposed to be grown ups? Maybe I'm just being optimistic here. :ermm:

FYI, Munky was, like yourself, what I like to call a "colourful" individual. When he overstepped the line he was reprimanded, disciplined on occasion and given equally pithy lectures (a fact I'm sure he will happily recount in detail). Also like yourself, he was allowed to remain and express his views, even when they didn't follow mine or the rest of the evil, world dominating mods. Infact given some of the comments he passed in my direction, I can't read the term "cliquey" with a straight face. That said, he was as straight talking as they come. He stopped using the forum of his own free will, for his own personal reasons - as anybody is free to do. He did so without any drama, which deserves respect. His account is still enabled and he is welcome to return.

I do not see the benefit in raking over old feuds just so a new argument can be started and points scored on a topic that is long forgotten and irrelevant. For that reason alone, I fully support the locking of that thread, this thread, or any other thread on the subject. In addition, as Dan pointed out, creating a new topic to carry on the argument about a locked topic is in breach of the forum rules.

Maybe you consider it jovial banter, maybe you discussed it via PM. However we must judge on appearance and lock any thread that appears to be descending into a personal argument or breaking the rules. If you wish to avoid this, you should amend your posting style to make it A) obvious when you are joking or/and B) less abrasive in your humour.

We have jobs, we have lives. We are not paid to sit here all day and debate what you may or may not mean on a topic about a thread posted a year ago. If you have to take it close enough to the line to get it locked in the first place, you are in no position to criticise.

It is, quite frankly, both a concern and disappointment to me when I log on to Rovertech to see so much effort put in to tripe such as this thread - when so little is put into anything useful. I am starting to think my firm but fair approach to running the place was naive and incorrect. Perhaps infact, we should start living up to this nazi moderator reputation and follow other forums in banning anybody we "don't agree with" without warning. Life would certainly be simpler for us, and maybe people would be more tempted to be constructive rather than spending their evenings trying to annoy each other on the internet and argue with the people that provide the free service they use.

This thread has no purpose other than to flaunt the forum rules, stir up bad feeling, annoy the members of another forum and waste the time of the members and staff of this forum. It has therefore run its course.

It is only the internet, so I'm sure you won't mind. If you do, then I have 78 threads that need sorting out, and a lot of stuff that needs typing up so perhaps you would like to give your keyboard a workover on something beneficial to the forum, rather than something that isn't. :locked:
