Post by Ozz »

Another thread slating Virgin - I seem to be getting my emails as and when they feel like delivering them - sometimes minutes after being sent to me, sometimes hours - anyone else on Virgin got the same problem?

I've had a virgin.net email for ten years and it's only started going beers-up since virgin.media came into being. I don't think that they were in a position to accommodate all the NTL/BlueYonder crap when they assimilated them.
I have a GoogleMail account now for work use from home and it is faultless - can't recommend it high enough...

I've been having nothing but grief since christmas, random losses of connectivity
and POP timeout problems. Also had this huuuggggeee delay in in getting email problem
you're talking about.

But ! They've been faultless for the last 5 years i've had the service so im bearing
with them while they sort out these irritating issues.

I'm with VM as an ISP but I wouldn't use them for e-mail.

They are diabolical.

needed to get my taxreturn stuff back and forth and VM was taking forever !

I too have them as an (extremely unreliable and expensive) ISP but I don't use their email service.

You might prefer to buy a domain name and get it hosted with someone reputable who will give you a pop3 mailbox - although you'll then have to change your email address, at least it won't change again in the future when you leave VM and find someone better :o)

I've used 123-reg recently and found their service to be very good. Nice big, free pop3 mail boxes when you host a domain with them. Avoid UK2.net, nothing but grief.

I'm sure others will have more recommendations of good domain hosts.

I've always used web-based email (hotmail or yahoo) and wouldn't have it any other way...
