New Car!

Post by al_leeds »

After months and months and months of deliberations, rumination and procastination I have finally bought me a new car:
Image

Jag XJ8 sport. 4.2 litre V8 300 bhp 308 lb ft torque 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. I had my heart set on an XJR but to be fair coming from a 2 litre diesel 75 this is more than a handfull!

Image

Cream leather with grey maple wood, electric everything Sat Nav/DVD/ Touchscreen, Built in phone, cruise control, traction control Jag CATS (sports suspension), auto lights/ wipers, climate control - the spec goes on and on!

Image

56k on the clock with full service history, all books manuals keys etc.

The interior is very familiar to anyone who has owned a 75/ZT, as daft as it seems it definitely feels like an upmarket MGR and the engine is unbelievable- only had it two days and already hooked to the V8 burble! I had a few comments about being too much of a grandad car for a 28 year old to be driving but I honestly do not care!

It feels sad to have left the MGR fold but what a replacement for the 75!

That is nice mate, and virtually identical to the one my girlfriend's brother just bought - same colour, interior etc only difference is his has all the chrome - I think it's cos his is the sovereign? Lovely car, he keeps getting weird looks and comments in it too cos he's only 23!

Pimp.

Surprisingly swift for a barge, I had a granddad try and leave me on a single carraigeway in the previous shape one - picked up it's skirt alright but still caught him. Bet it's great for p!ssing off the boy racers.

nice!

thatll be the x350 aluminium, much lighter than the previous ones! Bigger to...

you get 5 gears or 6 in that? Cats suspension is electrically adjustable if im not mistaken?

Id still love a x308 XJR, but, at the age they are now, some of the repair bills look horrendous that i see on the jag forums, and are no less prone to bits failing than an aging rover :S

If anyone is impressed with the pimpness of a jag, mine might be for sale soon! /threadhijack

Yup as far as I am aware its electrically adjustable, it has a 6 gear zf autobox with J gate which I strangely like...

The seats are amazingly comfortable, can be adjusted every which way you want ,and the upgraded sound system sounds immense!

Haven't been up against any boy racers in the traffic light GP but put your foot down and it doesn't half shift!

I paid a whisker short of 11k. Which is in the middle of the range of Valuations that Parker's give for a private sale. From what I can work out the place I got it from had it up for sale for about 4 weeks, and I got 1k off the asking price with a 3 month warranty.

lol, that was reasonable for what it was, but im not looking for a mint example that wont need any work. Rather than pay for a car that has had money spent on it un-neccessarily, id be looking to pick up a car that someone hasnt done the work so that a) i can do it myself b) get a cheaper car because of it.

2k is about the most a standard coupe would ever go for now?

I think id consider upto 1k reasonable for a standard example, that might need a little work here and there. I dont think thats unfair at all? perhaps i just havent been looking enough...
