Sorry I cant remember who it was but I'm sure someone on here claimed for damages done to alloy wheels caused by giant pot holes.

Hopefully they will be along in a bit!

It's bad enough getting paid out on a vehicle that's been written off by a 3rd party who has admitted 100% liability I'm presently locked in that battle so good luck claiming of council.

take them to small claims... it doesn't cost much... and if you win the other side pays the court costs...

The Highways Act 1980 places a duty on the Highway Authority to maintain the public highway network in a condition that is safe for users.

You'll need to get good quality pics with a ruler showing the depth of the pothole..or measuring tape with rulers at different places showing just how much the road is distorted from normal.

With photo's like that you haven't a snowball in hell's chance of getting anywhere.
Also if it's bad and you or someone has reported it or tried to claim they'll sort it fast.

consider that speed bumps aren't supposed to be more than 10cm so if it's pretty sever you'll have a decent chance with decent quality photos showing the actual state of the pot hole.

A friend of mine hit one in his cleo so deep it scuffed his alloys and made his airbags go off

He claimed back for all work needed...as said he also got a some good photos showing just how deep the pothole was and also the damage caused.
Accompanied by a nicely worded letter and the threat of court action.
