Re: Skunk 2 Billet Ally Lower Control Arms - Group Buy
im willing to part with my set .
they are still at robs . so who ever will owe me for them and postage to rob as i was going to collect.
ghall had to raise his car .
i dont have coil overs . well i do but i dont want to fit them as they need a refurbish . and im in to minds weather to anyway due to the shocking state of the roads etc.
but if i was to lose 10 mm on my current set up of just springs . id have rubbing tyres at the back . not to mention id have to spend the money on adjustable other bits so i dont get uneven tyre wear etc .
id need to see a set first to take some accurate drawings to see what id have to do with other parts. im sure u/i could cure it . but didn't foresee having to spend even more money on probably top adjustable arms.
rob i like you as a friend etc . and your a sound knowledgeable chap . and i kinda feel guilty a bit for posting etc
but to be honest i am lazy which is the most part of me not wanting to feck about with the rest etc . i just wanted to fit and forget etc
im just fed up of having to bodge group buy parts . even my stainless coolent pipes the welds are rusting out already
but hey ho they dont call me the bodge for nothing

I raised my rear end for completely unrelated issue with arms.
Just wanted to point that out.

Re: Skunk 2 Billet Ally Lower Control Arms - Group Buy
The thickness of the arm where the lower shock bush fits is 35.7mm, and the gap between the forks of the shock is 41mm, so I don't think any grinding of the collar will be needed, there are 2 choices, you can either thin down the flanges of the skunk bushes and the crush tube, or fit the Superflex bushes which may also need fettling but come with the correct length crush tube.

I don't have my arms yet but seems the most straight forward job ever to fit these arms. It's not rocket science and fair play to rob for organising it. People would think we are on a Lexus forum and struggling to fit a headlight bulb.

Re: Skunk 2 Billet Ally Lower Control Arms - Group Buy
This is Rovertech. We never had the luxury of lifting parts from a shelf. We innovated, made things work and will continue to make things work in the future. This is what makes this place what it is. This ain't no Micky Mouse forum, tech is in the name for a reason.
Various people over the years had took the time to do the above. Markcoupes stainless pipes, Vinnys battery trays and braces, Rob and Si doing the Brembodge kits, Cableguy looms. When I first received Marks stainless, it didn't fit. So I didn't cry about it, I made them fit and felt very tinky winky chuffed with myself when I did. Had anyone tried to source these arms themselves they would have cost more, and still needing modded. As far as I can see, there is no arm which bolts straight on? do correct me if I am wrong, seriously.
We should have all been on the same page working on a solution to this rather than getting up in arms over a simple thing to fix. If you don't feel comfortable modding the arms, tons of members on here will offer their time to help out, I know they will, or I am on the wrong forum
As for who said Rovertech 'knobs' on whatever social networking site...I can understand why you are selling them on now, wouldn't want to pick them up from Robs after that statement
The amount of effort that goes on behind the scenes is un-measurable and this particular group buy took a lot of effort to get this far, as did every other one before it. I have personally signed up for group buys in the past to simply make up numbers and get the ball rolling. I have no want for fancy arms or pipes, I can't even afford to tax the damned thing, but you take them for the team. I hate to get emotional on here, but I am human, I think a lot of this place and people in it. I kid you not.
To those of you who are quite content to trim them up, fair dues. To any that don't, that's no issue as someone else will most likely buy them from you. No1 is going to be 'stuck', not at that price.
*Who has fitted these so far btw? any tarty pics?

Re: Skunk 2 Billet Ally Lower Control Arms - Group Buy
I still think cutting the bush down isn't the right way in doing this and I'm talking from experience! I did this on some D2 LCA's and within a few months the bush was weak and not doing its job correctly which I believe was down to cutting the bush down in size.
If it happens to these arms as well then a decent MOT tester will spot this as an advisory.
My coupe is off the road now so I'm in no rush to getting these fitted, to those who have cut the bush down, I'm interested to see how you get with on them after a few months.
I would like to see if Rich hubbard has any luck with fitting that Superflex bush with any problems or can give some more feedback on if he thinks it will fit?

Don't suppose you have the part number of the superflex bush to hand off the packet do you, to make sure I'm getting the right one.
