Anyone else smell a rat here? The cost of dies for the forging, even if just made from tool steel, is massive for something like a con-rod so how can he possibly spread it across 2 sets only?

Was talking to Andy (ANR) the other day about these cheap rods.
He has had the same conversations as I have with the "suppliers".
They are rated at 600hp are they?
Name me 3 T16 cars running 600hp on these Rods.
I'll name you none as they don't exist.
These Chinese rods are weaker than stock, and I'm not the only person to have discovered this.

as he sells them for cosworths, scoobys, civics and the red top im willing to give em a go.

but like i sed he only wants min of 2 sets to make it worth him making them even if i buy both them sets myself its still cheaper than others.

maybe the first 2 sets is paying for his molds to be made ? then theres loadsa profit in it.

when something is too good to be true... A solid forged set of rods for 200, when the cheapest other alternative costs...

Trying not to sound like I know these are going to be duff but it just sounds very unlikely.

Dave, I wouldn't let him be flooded with phonecalls. I'd just PM it to Rob (ttrw2) or anyone similar who is interested and can talk tech.

BTW, no one here is insinuating that you might be dishonest, it's just very unusual to find rods this cheap and they're not something that are easily produced in small numbers. So people are suspicious of what exactly you might be getting.

I'm afraid these are PEC's after all.. check the description from this page re the Cossie rods, it's an almost word by word match from your second post roverdave:
http://www.engine-dynamics.com/epages/e ... d%20Set%22

Still would be interresting if someone who knows rods can talk to them and figure out what they really are.

Not really, just shows the mark-up vendors place on the product because the perceived cost, to bring to market, is so high.

Wow, confusing thread.

'He makes them for cosworths :w00t:'

'He sells them cosworths and scoobies.....'

Anyway, sure theyre the pec ones that have been tested at Intelligent Tuning and Bent at 280hp after not many miles, say this everytime they come up. However,as i wasnt physically in the car when it happened, or even know of the car, this isnt evidence. So i vote someone with alot of money to burn tries a set, then we'll all know if that one set was good or not. :w00t:

I was reading an old thread where Scott with the Road converted coupe racer says the OEM rods are Forged, is this true ?
