How long?

Post by BazR »

Indeed, as title. I was out clattering around in the garage earlier and remembered that I have owned my blue Coupe for 11 years. Many have come and gone in between, but I can't imagine parting with it.

Whats the longest affair you have had with a motor and what is/was it?

That'll be the ShedEss for me, 3 years past December 21st. Been, a slightly documented, rocky road  gets sheddier every year, but I still love it. Here's a couple of pics when I took it back home to longbridge last year

Longest car owned.

My 220 GSi, bought in april 2010. So 7 years virtually, and about 7000 miles. Off the road since December 2013, cheers greg

Second longest The MG zr we still have, had it 6 years.

Shortest time - Vauxhall Calibra Red top, had it about an hour and sold it  circa 2002

Also have a Prince Charles and Diana Austin metro die cast commemorative boxed car, has that for over 15 years, does that count? Has possibly seen the road more than my nasp

Had my red coupe for 11 years, been off the road for most of them though so probably doesn't count  my mondeo lasted 6 years so it probably gets the crown since it was an actual car the whole time

Owned my 25 aka the 25X since Jan 2003 so it is a 14 year affair, car was 18 months
old when I got it, it has had a big influence on my life, it is only a 1.4 Impression S so
nowt special but a car doesn't have to be to mean something to the owner.

A bad respray by a reputable paint shop has ruined this car, I am going to part it out
to improve my R8 Cabby, I don't want to but it would take at least another 2k paint
job to fix is and its not worth it. :(

Cheers Vinny, did a lot of miles in that car, had a sound system I built myself for
quality rather than chav tunes, half leather swap, has A/C that still works, few
minor LED mods inside, car was a nice place to be, its just looking sorry for itself
now and stinks of damp, bit like dist after wrenching in the rain lol.

I've owned my 220 GTi for over 18 years and have covered 118,000 genuine miles.

She is garaged over the winter these days. She will be taxed and out again on March 1st. 8)

Cheers vinny, iv not done a recent full spec write up as its constantly changing, its currently up on axle stands with a new stage 1 clutch, gbe light weight flywheel and pas pump just been fitted, got a new lower control arm to go on as rubber had split and mgf rear view mirror upgrade to do plus a whole load more little bits, its only getting better. I will start a new thread soon now its above 2 degrees outside and i feel a bit more motivated to crack on with it.
