I have a Rover 416 SLI (96N). When you start the car the airbag warning light comes on for a couple of seconds and then disappears. However recently, the warning light has gone out, and then flashes intermittently while I am driving. The way the light flashes is not random so I think there is some kind of problem.
Is this something serious/dangerous that I need to get looked at quickly? Also would I need to take this to a rover dealer to get looked at as there is not one locally to me. Also is it likely to be expensive to put right. In my experience any kind of problem with electronic sensors usually is.
Any advice much appreciated. Thanks
Airbag Warning Light

not sure, probably a sensor.
i think if the light is on/flashing. it simply means that there is a fault, so the airbag will not go off.

Quick clue to that one is, does the horn still work?
If you've been chuffing around with the steering rack then it's the ring.
Apparently if you're triple handy with the soldering iron you can repair the internal ribbon cable.
Other thing that triggers it is battery or alternator problems or removing the battery with the ignition key in postion I or II.

'fraid not Rover SRS/Airbag system was programmed by the CIA, strictly need to know basis and you don't need to know.
Go to stealer and touch your toes time or about £30 to reset it if the stories are to be believed.
I don't think anyone builds an aftermarket decoder for the Rover SRS either.
