One of the saddest days (for me)

Post by 600_Nutta »

Well Phil finally came over today and took her away from me :(
Really didn't want to do it but she had to go.
The last pic of her.

Just glad she will be back on the road legal, and look forward to seeing her destroying the ego's of the Chavs my way

Well he is aware of the site, and has been around for a while (don't know his RT name tho)
Lives a few miles from me so I hope to still see her around.
At least she won't be destroyed :)

I'm pretty sure the new owner of that car posted in the original thread in the ebay section :)

My dad was supposed to bid on this car (I was at work), but got mixed up over the auction end time and missed it! Bah.

Lovely looking motor :)

If it's the blue one on austin-rover, the HG has been knackered by some plonker driving it with a known coolant loss. However, that one has (I believe) been sold.

I didn't think the HG had gone, The seller said it was a coolant pipe down the back of the engine causing the coolant loss when I saw him last. It's had a brand new header tank though cause I got him one when I ordered a new one for mine. This one actually looks like its made from plastic rather than cheese. :D

Hi, I'm Phil who bought this fine example of a rare car - have had a bit of a set back though - got the head off and found its cracked

I've managed to get my hands on another head (cheers cableguy) so it's no big deal, just going to take a bit longer to repair than I'd hoped.

Still, she will be up and running for the Goodwood revival at the end of the month.

FAO Scott - I seem to remember you were working on some sort of remap (or not?) for the tickford some time ago - did you have any joy?

well, regardless of the owner, if you need a hand, let us know, im only in carterton...

you can fit klingers to these (recomended) , as i fitted one to mine a few years back...

you need to keep the ticky exhaust valves though, they are different to the nasp... I have a valve spring compressor should you need to borrow one...

I've got a klinger waiting to go on, will hopefully have the head tomorrow and yes it is off another tickford.

sysounds - don't suppose you have the little silicone elbow that goes from turbo coolant inlet/outlet pipe to the block?

May also be after some -40 springs as the current ones (-60) might turn out to be too low for my driveway.

Hello Everyone,
This is not actually Stumpy, but his wife, Casey. Phil passed away at the beginning of June after a long battle with cancer. I was going through his posts, and came across this one which was lovely to read. The tickford featured on this post is up for sale now, and I thought I would post this before putting it on ebay. I have spoken to his Dad and friend and know that since purchasing the Rover, Phil has made the following changes:
A new bottom end to engine
Replacement head with new valves
Rebuilt turbo
Extra large air cooler fitted
Dump valve and boost gauge fitted
Valid MOT but will renew when purchased

Happy for anyone to arrange to view, we are based in Oxford. My email is caserobinson(AT)hotmail.com. Will put on ebay in a few weeks time if we have had no sensible offers. Hoping can sell through Rovertech as Phil would appreciate the owner being a keen Rover enthusiast.

I've sent a pm to dirtyburty who had his on eBay but it didn't reach the reserve. I was in the process of bidding £500 but the auction ended (I forgot to set my watch alarm). I'm still waiting for a reply. I'd pay £600 for a good'un. He's in Derbyshire so not too far to go to get it. I'm still keeping my 303k miles Mk2 800 though.

Very sorry to here about your loss. I only met phil breifly a couple of years ago when he came to collect some parts to help get the car back on the road.

If you need any help in preparing/fixing the car the offer is still there of course.

Ah Casey, that's heartbreaking to read.
I can't imagine what it must be like to be reading over old posts of his now that he is gone, and I'm amazed that you are able to log on to the forum and deal with things like selling his old car. I suppose it helps people sometimes to occupy themselves with practicalities like this.
I didn't know you or Phil, but just felt compelled to post a reply.
I hope you are finding some comfort in the ability to read some of his old posts here.
Sorry for your loss.
Colin.

Same as Colin really i just feel like i should reply but dont really know what to say. Ive lost a few people to the horrible thing that is cancer so i really feel for you.

Hope all goes well in the future and hope the car goes to someone who will care for it.
