Possible ban on all cars over 10 years old!

For things that don't fit into a category. i.e. non-motor related subjects.

Looks like the motor industry is worried about its car sales falling.

The fact that a car engine over 10 years service ( if correctly maintained ) puts out less CO2 than it takes to manufacture one car isnt considered.

There is an arugument to make the MOT test better, to remove cars of any age off the road that falls below a set standard.

Most classic , modified and show cars of 10-30years old are so well cared for that they are not the problem.

Trouble with that is, the honest people like me get screwed over by having to spend that bit extra to 'fix' things to get the ticket, whilst bob the builder in his 24 year old transit van with more rust than paint pays Joe the MOT tester to have a drive through MOT. :(

I own older cars because new ones are overweight, oversize, gutless sacks of sh!te.
The longer a car provides efficient service, the lower its 'dust-to-dust' cost in resources and energy. Whilst I do not subscribe in any way to the climate change scam, I do utterly detest waste.

The article refers to an experiment in Stuttgart - and assumes that we will do the same.

It's fairly safe to say that this is a non-story created by semi-p1ssed journos who are too lazy to leave the bar to check any facts, so just read foreign press releases and make this crap up.

This may be fair comment in the area in which you live but in West London which has a huge Polish population they tend to drive old Rovers on English plates or older Beemers/Mercs which they look after and their standard of driving is mostly better than the 4 X 4 brigade doing the school run. :|
Having said that, I do regard any foreign or diplomatic plate with the deepest suspicion, its common sense to do so IMO.
Dobre Vietchkou... and apologies to Marcin and others if I've cocked up the spelling.
