The US Geographical Survey's website reported a quake of the magnitude of 4.7 and said the epicentre was 30 miles (50km) south of Kingston-upon-Hull.

Good job it wasn't during the day, otherwise I bet a load of xbox 360 games would have been ruined.. vibrations cause it to burn rings into the disks.

Epicentre was only 15mins up the road from me, quite a few chimney's fallen down around the area according to the radio this morning.

I don't mind admitting it scared the sh1t outta me, woke me up (which takes alot!) and I wondered wot the hell was going on, just don't expect something like that in this country.

Was watching the news, most of the damage is broken chimneys/garden walls. Imagine what the Americans must be thinking, it's the worst earthquake in 30 years for us, but it probably doesn't even bother people in the likes of California!

I didn't feel a thing here in Preston.

Maybe it was because I slept right through after a handful of Japanese beers and a bottle of wine.

It came through here at 12:57.

It's absolutely pathetic the way people are going on about it "The blinds moved/the cupboard door rattled - I thought I was going to die!". Fair enough if your chimney falling in. But people going outside of their house to see if the roof had fallen in? Yeah, because you never hear something like that when you're in the building.

Dozens of calls to police, but no reports of injury? WTF were they phoning up for then?
